Privacy Policy
We keep this simple: we collect what we need to reply to your enquiry, we use it only for that, and you can ask us to see it, fix it or delete it at any time.
Who we are
Shimmer & Shine Events (“we”, “us”) provides event styling, decor, floral garlands, party supplies and table and chair hire in New Zealand. This policy covers this website and enquiries made through it. We handle personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
What we collect
When you send an enquiry we collect what you type into the form:
- your name and email address
- the occasion, and optionally the event date, location, guest numbers and preferred style
- the services you’re interested in and anything you tell us about your celebration
To protect the form from spam we also keep a one-way scrambled version (a hash) of your IP address, along with the time of your enquiry. We can’t turn that back into your IP address. We do not use analytics, advertising trackers or marketing cookies on this site.
Why we collect it
We use your details only to reply to your enquiry, prepare a quote, check availability and arrange a booking if you go ahead. We do not sell your information or use it for unrelated marketing. If we ever want to send you marketing, we will ask first.
Where it is stored and who sees it
Enquiries are stored in a database run by Cloudflare, Inc., which also hosts this website. Cloudflare may process data in other countries, and it applies its own security and privacy commitments. Only people at Shimmer & Shine Events who need to respond to enquiries can see them. We share your information with others only if you ask us to, or if the law requires it.
This browser
While you fill in the form, this site saves your draft in your browser’s local storage so you don’t lose it. That draft stays on your device and is not sent to us until you press “Send my enquiry”. You can clear it by clearing your browser’s site data. The site sets no cookies.
How long we keep it
We delete enquiries automatically after 24 months. We may keep booking records for longer where we need them for tax, accounting or legal reasons. You can ask us to delete your enquiry sooner.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within 20 working days.
Security
This site is served over HTTPS, enquiries are validated and rate-limited, and the database is not publicly accessible. No online system is perfectly secure, so please don’t include sensitive information such as payment or identification details in your enquiry.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
